About.

In 2016, a company named Smart Code as established by two young entrepreneurs to teach other people how to code for free. The two volunteers were very passionate about coding. Slowly, the company began to grow and have more clients. Knowledge was given to the clients of smart Code through 1 on 1 lessons.

Smart Code was founded by two teens named Aaron and Michael who had a big passion for coding. Slowly, as they developed their skills, the initiative Hour of Code was called. Launched by Facebook, Hour of Code was a programme who’s objective was to teach other children how to code. In Hong Kong, Hour of Code was hosted by a professor in the electronic engineering department of the City University. Through the initiative Aaron and Michael met together and were interested in teaching others, but in a one on one. Gradually, as they became better at coding, Smart Code was founded and were advertising their company through hour of code. In 2016 the official Smart code website was made public and made booking a whole lot easier.

Smart Code offers lessons on Swift Playground, CodeCombat, MicroBit, Scratch, MIT App Inventor 2 and code.org to teach smaller children how to code with the hard parts done for them so they will get a feel for coding and decide whether coding is suitable for them.

Hour of Code has allowed us to borrow a special lab called the CityU Apps Lab. There, all of Smart code’s lessons take place. CityU Apps Lab is a peaceful area that allows many people who have interest in coding—mainly university students and PhD students—to work and to develop splendid apps on Google Play and the App Store.

The Smart Code team currently has 5 staff: Aaron, Aries, Erik, Kenton and Michael. Aaron and Michael, the founders, have a job of delivering tasks to everybody to do. Erik and Aries are teachers, whose job is to teach the lessons, and Kenton is always teaching the team how to do better coding.

Everybody should learn to program a computer, because it teaches you how to think.
